Sad time this year again
Fri Nov 23, 2012 5:57 pm
Well the worst is happening my beloved mare who I love more than life itself, is soon to cross over the rainbow.. All attempts have failed and the xrays show the bone is dying, my life is sinking all hope is gone . 22 1/2 years and I will be alone without her. Nothing seems important now but enjoying my last days with her.
Crying as I write this I have received HELL from next door yard.
1 they reported me to welfare over my mare and her care.
2]They are hounding my liveries for info about her
3 ]They are spreading Rumours about me saying i am going crazy , based on my making a corral outside for her to stand outside her stable.
4 Saying i am doing the wrong thing
watching from their gate on tuesday when i had vets cars out.
and more.
got to stage i have to lock up in case they come in to spy on my mare for info.
She has had best care we spent over £10.000 over the last year.
I am heart broken nothing can change the way I am feeling.
This is a horrid christmas even though i dont like xmas anyway. Wish I could curl up and die.

That's awful news......really feel for you Rachel. Had to have our last Collie put down a few years ago because the muscles in her back end wasted and she couldn't move without real pain. She had been my best friend for 13 years, to have had your mare for 10 years more and then loose her must be terrible, especially if the neighbours are giving you hassle.
If her bone is dying, then at least she won't be in pain anylonger when you let her go. My girlfriend is a vet and says the biggest mistake people make is prolonging their animals pain too long, thinking they are helping, but aren't. So you are doing the right thing, even though it is heartbreaking to have to do it.
Alastair.

Sorry to hear this. Having to let a pet go is one of the hardest thing to do.
In 2001 my parents had to let go our ten year old Labrador Retriever because he got ill. I'll never forget that day :/

My mistake, originally posted a Utube link in my reply which after all wasn't so good idea and later deleted it. Sorry about it.
