Aaaagghhh...that whole sequence drove me crazy as a kid first time around (it was so obvious that they were going to reuse the footage, from the moment you saw all the look-alike characters and the way they were dressed lol...it still bugs me today, such a cheap and pointless end to an episode, whatever possessed them?
Those reused SPM transformation scenes bug me too, all that money to build the car and only a handful of shots of it that got reused, again and again and again...
Great topic :-)

The highway sweeping corner shot of kitt driving. they seemed to use that a lot. in fact there is loads of reused kitt driving scenes. would have been nice to see some different ones

Yes, I agree. You start to accept it after a while that as a series gets settled in that it's almost 'cut and pasted' together in the edit room like in a factory...insert A camera, insert B camera, insert old stock, back to A camera etc...
It's just frustrating that as the series went on we saw more and more of this, and it doesn't help the replica builders out either as they also have to bear in mind inconsistencies in the footage used in the episodes etc.
As for another bug bear of mine, the 'reverse from the semi' with the 'something hanging down the side' shot...so overused and frustrating :-P

The camera off the fender pointed towards the wheel and road, you see the stock ground effects.
The seen in Pilot episode, after Michael discovers the car, KITT, talks. He says "I can't believe this, a car that talks back to me!" He starts off, camera on fender showing wheel and road. From that point on, you saw that footage re-used over and over.

They also re-used the same footage from The Topaz Connection to other episodes.
1. When Michael and KITT drive off from airport, then camera starts with KNIGHT plate, rear of car, and song "Land down under" playing, KITT racing down that road. They have that clip and the end of Season 1 again, Short Notice, after KITT brings Natalie to safty and returns to Michael.
2. KITT's turbo boost scene towards end of Topaz connection, that jump is used a few times. I believe also from a different angle/camera.

Here's one that's AUDIO based - that darn "screeching of the tires" sound every time Michael would drive away somewhere. The tires always screeched the SAME...EXACT...WAY. Even on gravel you'd hear the screech. Like fingers on a chalkboard for me - can't stand it every time I hear it.

Oh yea, definitely!! Especially in one of my favorite episodes, "KITT vs KARR"
KARR driving away from the beach, in sandy and dirt road, tires are screeching! lol

A Good Day at White Rock, the Turboboost over the water was reused in Speed Demons if I remember correctly.

Trust doesn't rust. 24:50 in. KARR starts his crime spree. Very first shot is of kitt crashing through the prison wall from the pilot! But worse still at 25:32 that is clearly kitt with his slamming sammys silver stars on! That makes me laugh every time as is obvious even on my phone lol

Is that the one with the 'double squeak'?
I think I posted somewhere else on this too, but some of these sound effects seem to go back years and years...definteiy to the mid-70's Universal shows.
One that has bugged me for years is in the pilot. I swear that the shot of the girls in pink playing 'Proud Mary 'in the casino is recylced from another older Universal show. I am wading through my old series now as it's driving me crazy lol...I've got a feeling it's an old episode of Quincy...
The same goes for the crowd shots from the 'Demolition Derby' sequence, right out of the 70's...

The prison break from 'A Nice, Indecent Little Town' was originally from the pilot episode.

Trawling through other old Larson show credits last night on YouTube I found that the opening credits of his old 1975 show 'Switch' features this shot which of course we see in the KR Pilot episode.

Basically then, I think that if we want to find the source of much of the archive stock footage used in KR, then the best place to look is in GL's old shows!
