Another newbie says hi,
Thu Mar 28, 2013 8:42 pm
Hi all, just thought I would drop you all a line to say hello, Thanks to black T top for pointing me in the direction of this site. He reckoned I'd be ok on here even though my project car isn't a KITT its a Morris Marina..., only joking, its a 1991 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am convertible, in white with WS6. I acquired it last year as a non runner so its definitely a project car.
1st question of many, how to post pics? (in laymans terms, as I'm as thick as a tree with 'puters! )

Hi mate welcome !
Sounds like a great project you have there, not many convertibles in the UK let alone being turned into KITT replicas
To post a picture, you can either press the 'host an image' button which is in the row of buttons along the top of these reply boxes, if you hover over them it will come up with what they are. Then you can upload your picture.
Or, if you have an ImageShack account, you can upload loads of your pictures to that, and then link them to the forum that way
Hope that sort of helps !
Scott

Thanks for that,Yes it is helpful, I will have a go with the pic uploading.
Just to clarify though it's not a going to be a KITT replica, just a stock restoration, I hope that's ok for me to be on here. I was kind of hoping to mingle in as you all must be enthusiasts of the Firebird marque as well as the KITT side of things.

Re: Another newbie says hi,

I'v tried that a few times now, and when I click 'copy' nothing happens(even though I have selected middle link) and if I click on upload it all disappears and I have to re-upload picture and start again. That's why I opened a photobucket account, I just need to work out how to create a link from this forum to the Photobucket thingy, do I do that from here or in photobucket?
I doubt if there's anything wrong with the uploader, just me getting the hang of all this, I guess if I had a KITT then the car could show me, but mine's just a standard Pontiac! lol

Thanks Glyn, had a few goes at that and the window disappears when I press copy,
Never mind, I will get pics on here somehow. Then I can start a tidy thread about the car with updates etc.
would like to go the photobucket route as I can use that on the Rocket III forum as well.

Hi Jase,
Awseome mate, well done on joining up Heres how i post pics:
1) Just above the message space to type in there is a row of little square buttons (one is a smiling face).
2) Click on the 4th one to the left of the smiling face "host an image".
3) Click "browse" and select the picture
4) Click "upload" and wait for the box to change to one with 3 links in it
5) Highlight the contents of the bottom box "Image url" and copy it
6) Now click on the little box 3rd to the left of the smiling face "image"
7) Paste what you just copied into the box and click OK
A link should now generate into your message...thats its done. When you submit the message, the picture will automatically add inside the message.
Hell of a complicated way to add pictures, took me ages to figure it out, but works well one you get used to it lol!
Heres a big one of your car I still have on email, cant find the rest lol

At last!!!, thanks again Black T Top, must have tried 9 or 10 times! nearly hit the bottle! I'm going to post a few more pics just for the practice.
For anyone interested all these piccies are of when I first dragged the car home 8 or 9 months ago. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
hey, I'm getting good at this now, tyres have been off, front two replaced and wheels refurbished since pics were taken. I'll get some up to date pics on here soon.

Nice car
Photobucket was recently updated and not sure how it is by default nowdays as my account is nearly 8 years old but perhaps you can select the necessary links to be visible from user settings -> albums menu. It's recommendable to turn the easy linking mode on as well.
My Photobucket account has now links visible when I'm in the album viewing thumbnails of my photos, the links are under the thumbnails and I just make active the necessary link and copy it, then paste it to the forum.
Ive got the following links available under the thumbnails:
Direct link
HTML code
HTML thumb
IMG code
IMG thumb
This forum use IMG codes. The code gives link to the original size photo and IMG thumb for clickable thumbnail like this:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Hope this helps as Photobucket is quite useful photo hosting service if you belong to multiple forums, especially if some of them use HTML and others IMG codes

There ya go Jase....you're getting the hang of it now
I really like the look of that car....whatever you do DONT BREAK the back taillights......ever! Just noticed you have the 2 peice ones that were only made in 1992 and are ULTRA ULTRA rare, even in the US they go for crazy money.....saw a mint set hit over $500 on Ebay last year!

Wow, thanks for all the kind words on the car folks, and a great welcome in general, not to mention all the (much needed) help with uploading pics'
Alastair, its funny you should mention those 2 piece taillights, I knew they were unusual because i'v never seen them on any other 3rd gen Firebird in real life, or online. I pulled them off today (carefully!!) gave them a good cleaning inside and out and then flatted them back gently with used 1000 grit paper and then buffed them up to a high gloss, they look a million dollars now and are ready to be re-fitted.
Just one more newbie style question, I'd like to start a tidy thread on the car since I'v had it and the work I'v done to date etc, bearing in mind its not a KITT replica, where should I start the thread??
