well i cant seem to cancel my membership on the foundation board so youll have to ban me lol.

I find it ludicrous that altering a part is wrong when it is quite normal in the business of fiberglass laminating but i suppose certain people make up their own rules no matter what the laws state. haha.

If the COMMUNITY is the police and im wrong then so be it. But i did what i was asked to do and now feel its time to see if i have the uk behind me or not.

Secondly................. I do not see where as a fiberglass fabricator you have to sculpt/carve from foam etc. Im a fully qualified glasser/body paint specialist and do not always do so. It is within normal realms of the business to take a poorly made part and use it as a base to rework it into your own part. This i have done but always on a part that is so poorly made that none of the original remains and most of my sculpting is done with filler ( bondo ).

Using an existing product as a base is common practice in far higher businesses than the "Knight Rider world" otherwise every new product would be revolutionary and whilst that would be nice its not reality.

Few things here...

As a person who does not deal directly with replicas but rather people as a whole - I simply have to point out in this matter that it really doesn't matter who makes what or sells what - collectively whether vendors wish to admit it or not, you're all stealing from Michael Scheffe's original ideas and making a profit from it.

It doesn't matter if you carved a bumper yourself, referenced screenshots, cast parts from universal molds, or whatever - you're trying to emulate, improve on, evolve, or otherwise replicate another person's creative vision.

This is not an insult, this is a documented fact - IF you claim what you make is "original" - considering that all vendors have no doubt referenced Michael's work (either directly or on screen), you have ALL been guilty of "recasting" off someone else.

With that being said replicas are a necessity to keeping the spirit of Knight Rider alive. They grace our driveways, charity events, entertain, inspire, and so on. I think it's petty and self defeating to argue who made what or designed what when the bottom line is without vendors selling what they feel is their best interpretation of Scheffe's work - there would be no more Knight Rider replicas at all. No vendor owns the rights to produce Knight Rider parts exclusively, period.

This isn't about necessity or pride - it's about ego and greed. If you're good at something, take pride in your work and leave other people alone. So maybe it's not as accurate as yours or up to your "personal" expectations, what right do you have to tell someone else how to do their job according to your standards?

Unless someone is stealing your patented work and selling it illegally, it's not your business.

I think this hobby should be about helping people not discouraging them or trying to run them out of business. Competition is only healthy if it promotes growth - short of someone who is blatantly stealing someone's money and not delivering a product - you are destroying a fan's ability to create replicas with options outside of your own. You can't monopolize the hobby and that's what so many vendors believe they can do. In attempting to do so they only create more needless negativity that can be avoided by minding your own business and focusing on running your own business.

If you're a good producer, if people love your work, and if people continue to buy your work - focus on meeting their demand for it. Who cares if they buy from someone else unless you think they are making something better than you are and posing a threat - in which case instead of trying to cover up your own weaknesses by trying to critique and discredit others, improve your own work and show through artistic mastery and not ego or insecurity driven rants why people should buy from you and not your competition.

This is why the "replica wars" will never end - because people can't set aside their egos and do things for a purpose greater than themselves, their pride, or their wallets.

I have and continue to live by example both as a man of my word and as a book/poster/t-shirt vendor. I answer customer inquiries, ship on time, and produce the best quality products I can manage, even if I have to lose profit in the process.

This is drama, plain and simple. Build a bridge and get the hell over it.

Rik is an outstanding family man who goes out of his way to help out others. Neither his name nor his company should be dragged through the mud because some guy believes he or his staff has to walk in his shoes.

As for The Knight Foundation being a "COMMUNITY" with a right to condemn anyone as a "bad or distrusted vendor" - that opinion is limited only to their disfunctional "community" which is quite frankly a tiny blip on the entire Knight Rider fandom's radar as a whole.

The Knight Foundation has no power or authority outside of their own forum domain. Here on KRUK we respect Rik, his staff, his company, and everything he does for the hobby in the uk.

Replicas normally are not my business but defending the names of good people involved with them is.

Quality is in the eye of the beholder and a replica/collectible part of any sort is only as valuable as someone is willing to pay for it.

Let the clients make their own choices.

Since I just "re-read" this post and you mention pics, a few pics of your construction of the Season 1-2 nose would be interesting... Especially with the fact that they so much resemble Joao's.

I (we) would like to see some photos that document foam/mold creation "carving" similar to that of Billy Gunter and those of Bo McDonald - BOTH of whom documented their TRUE CREATIONS. BOTH of which took MORE THAN A YEAR!! I've been waiting on a REAL season 2 dash for the better part of 2 YEARS!! It is still in it's REAL creation stages! You seem to pop off parts like they are already designed!! Oh... Or are they? Not to mention you are the SECOND TOP POSTER on this forum!

Everyone is guilty as each other be you making it from foam or whatever, because simply put without the idea of the car you wouldn't have anything to work off.

Be it the fibreglass or the electronics, you had to have something to work off to be able to make them, so collectively the above statement applies to all vendors of knight rider parts.

All this b***ing about you made this part and I made this part and your part looks like my part so your stealing it and blah blah blah, its an old broken record that comes out every time a new vendor comes into play.
Which is exactly why the vendors barely work together with each other because there at each others throats for taking away business or some other reasons, If Mike was to come on the boards and read this he would be sorely disappointed that people are not working together helping each other for his ideas because he really enjoys the idea that his work has been an inspiration to us all, you don't see him bitching that you have all recasted his original ideas, he gives thanks for new representations of his work.

Start getting along folks or all of your business's are going to suffer.

People should only be mentioned on the Forums where there is a problem with the actual part or delivery to Warn people not to buy from them. Ie: "sent money but no part received" or "part doesnt fit" etc.

At the minute, you BOTH hold excellent reputations for the parts you create so please lets not damage that over a petty discussion that started off with someone elses countdown.

You know what... The HELL WITH IT!

3 years ago I get railroaded for "copying other's work" - Jacob Wyatt gets banned for "copying other's work" and the list can go on forever... Now it seems that it's OK to "copy other's work"? Why is this? Because folks are tired of stepping up and speaking their mind? Yeah - I'm GOOD at that. I'll speak what's on my mind and NOT be "scared" to do so. A couple of you KNOW this from our recent meet in Atlanta. I spoke my mind on several instances and I stood in "silence" to await responses - and got a few "quiet" one's...

So... If you kiss enough ass at major car shows - it's PROVEN that you can get away with just about anything you desire. INCLUDING copying Joao's Season 1/2 nose and using the excuse that it's "a poorly made part"...

EVERYONE can jump on the bandwagon now and start popping off parts - me, I've got some plans in the near future that just may upset some of these new "fly-by-nites"

Hey, I'm still banned from there/tried to make peace.... I wonder now.... Everything you guys are saying, I've said x10...... My pieces look different to alot of noses out there. I can still tell it's mine. Wasted almost 2 years of the hobby on noses, got banned for one, spoke my mind until banned, had an OK behind closed doors/have e-mails to prove that, and still got banned. What gives? I mean , darn, all this is ok now, but back then, Billy was going to mold my nose, make a copy, start selling them, and wham!..... I'm banned , Billy's brought back to the Foundation....What gives? I love the hobby, or I'd definately be gone..... that's for sure.... Back then, there were ALOT of people against me for it.... Does it still bother me? NOPE.. Ken's coming out with my last one and so .....uh, the first one was just a warm up.... See you guys.....

And never getting parts I paid for .

I read some of the post over there and the people saying the countdowns are cr4p it wasn't ness to slag off the count downs .

Kirad * Rik* is highly value over here I have seen his work first hand at the knightcon its gr8 work .
, Rik puts ALLOT of time and effort into his work, without him we would be without a very good friend and Vendor.
Lets keep this site clean lets not drag it down to the other ones level guys and gals.Marina and the Mods keeps this 99% friendly lets keep it this way .

Micheal Sheffe came to the Knightcon and saw Riks parts he was happy with the construction etc and the fact Rik and others are using his ideas if he hasnt a problem why drag this on and on.

If people want to buy the countdowns let them, its a free world you can buy / bid on what ever floats your boat , some people dont have the conatcts when they first start so look to ebay tio buy more well know vendors are more expensive so this budget might suit somepeople who dont have the finances to buy more acurate or don't want to . Good luck to them selling these like zapper sells parts , as long as they havent " stolen" them or using someones actuall pictures or parts and calling them their own , like we have seen in the past good luck to them. I have brought many parts from the USA ( vendors ) many of which I have lobbed and re sold One of which is my dash and I have brought a Riks dash which I saw at Knightcon and its awsome .............

So lets end this squabbling and as they say when you are a child if you havent got anything nice to say dont say anything.

Thats what im saying also Stu, and Mike aint chasing anyone either!!!!!!! I'll let the real hobbiests make their own judgement based on hard work, sweat and the amount of time taken to really create one of these parts the right way - Joao has CLEARLY been RIPPED OFF of his hard work put into creating this part for who?? The HOBBYISTS! If "kirad" wanted to do the right thing - he would have approached Joao and inquired on making replicas of his work. I KNOW this is the original work of Universal and all involved in creating the show in 1982 but that shouldn't be an "excuse" to start popping off parts and selling and then making yourself look good by attending "big car show events" and sugaring up... That is PRECISELY what has happened here, POINT BLANK.

Ok so i said i wasnt going to post anymore on this subject.

BUT if its so plain to see why are you all blind to one simple fact.

Joao has his whole peak better than mine. If you actually bother to look you will see that i havent bought my peak down nowhere near to the angle his is at. INFACT it looks like mine is too high and his is RIGHT. MINE may well look like a passions nose but it isnt. The lines are harder and crisper on his peak, his nose is also a good inch to an inch and a half longer than mine in its outreach.

For god sake................. WE are all trying to replicate KITTS nose so of course there is going to be noses that look the same as others.

I just wanted to make my kitt have the right look.
