Lake District's Bond Museum and Cars of the Stars close
The Cars of the Stars museum and its sister attraction, the Bond Museum in Keswick shut over the weekend.
A message on the museums' website said the announcement of the closure was made with "deep sadness" and the vehicles would be relocated.
It thanked everyone who has "supported the museums over the last 22 years in Keswick". Owner Peter Nelson has not been available for comment.
Mr Nelson sold off 26 of his vehicles in February 2011, including Harry Potter's Ford Anglia, Kitt from Knight Rider and Mr Bean's Mini.
According to the museums' website the museum shop in Keswick will remain open, selling memorabilia.
It is not known how many jobs will be lost as a result of the closure.
Speaking on BBC Radio Cumbria Linda Furniss, tourism officer for Keswick Tourism Association, said: "The closures came as a great surprise, we have lost two real attractions.
"I don't believe that we will lose visitors as a result of the museums closing. Keswick has a rich array of visitor attractions."

I think thats the main issue really.... there are a LOT of people that didn't get around to going, myself included. In this day and age with the internet allowing us to access images, videos and other relevant info we are less drawn to visiting such places.
Sad times.

I think this has been on the cards for a while now, especially with him selling off some of the cars earlier. Will be missed though. I used to go almost every time I went to the lakes.
Peter.

yeah, I'm guilty as charged there .
It's nothing new though, I grew up about half a mile from the "Black Country Museum" in Dudley, and although people travel from all over the World to go there I've never even been there once. I always said "I'll do it next week" when I lived there, and now I'm 220 miles away down in Kent it's too far to travel for a day out
Maybe one day??

Are the cars already gone by now?
If not, and someone can arrange that I still can see them, then I will arrange my trip immediately!!
I really must see the batmobiles and the A-team Van.

Well i consider myself lucky then and very priveledged as i've been there FIVE times.
The first time (October 1991) i could'nt drive and i was asked ( being a fan of Knight Rider) if i would like to sit in the KITT car!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bearing in mind pictures and touching them was'nt allowed.
I was told by John (Peters' younger brother) to state 'i was from the press' if anyones asks 'why i was allowed to sit in KITT and have pictures taken'.
The second and third time i went i was allowed in for nothing and half price respectively.
i always had a good chat to John and Paul (Peter's two younger brothers).Paul being a collector of star signatures.
Plus i got to meet Peter himself driving the Normal Herbie car to park outside the museum.I've got his picture doing this too.
I read a couple of weeks ago about Peter wanting to sell the business on as he was in his fifties and felt he'd had his enjoyment and time with the cars.
He also stated he wanted the whole business to stay together.
I wonder who bought the K.I.T.T cars?
He even had the Streethawk motorcycle and ALL Batmobiles up to George Clooneys Batman.
I actually saw the Michael Keaton one.
A really nice and friendly family.
I only wished they lived nearer myself as i would've loved to have got a job there
Sad news indeed................Kev
