Haha, I am the closest person to you I think, that's why I asked where you were. That was £50 to go there and back.

HEHEHEHE
You just made my day !!!!
anywhere between £50 to £100 fuel cost to leeds there and back is COOOOOOOOL )))
Ok seen as your the nearest to me, have you had any experience in building KITT?
And if so do you want me to keep you in mind for when I get my car sorted, or is that to weird or too much to ask ?
Seriously PLZZZZ do not take offence, it's just I can't afford the likes of KIRAD or KNIGHTS OF ENGLAND who charge upwards of £15,000 for a turnkey car, and I would enjoy it more if I did the most of the work myself.
But I do not have the experience or knowledge to do it ((((
At least alone .
Thanks Again for all your help, hope your not pissed at me

Best thing about this forum (and others too) is everyone helps everyone - ive been building my KITT on a budget since December and this place along with "The Foundation" and Pontiac owners club have been so incredibly helpful - top bunch of people who are always around with advice and guidance!
It is possible to do this hobby without selling your organs on the black market as I am managing it you just need patience and trawl the for sale sections on the forums and check ebay daily! ha ha!

Hi Mate, Im currently building my 2nd KITT, I would say the majority of the people on this forum are all building there own cars and you can do what you can afford to do.
But you will need fibreglass parts and you will need to get them from either KIRAD or KOE, who are both in this counrty, I can only recommended KIRAD parts as his parts are all i buy and are the highest quality in my opinion and Rik is also on here giving advice and pointing people in the right direction.
We are all here to help each other with building the car and this forum has the best community around, so feel free to ask lots of questions

I really feel like crying now (
I have just totaled up the parts I would need for kITT from KIRAD, KNIGHTDESIGNS.COM, JUPITER ELECTRONICS & KNIGHT PASSIONS.
to give me an idea of cost, and the result is around £8200- £8600
So to use an expression I have always liked
IT'S GOT ME BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS NO MATTER WHAT WAY I SPIN (
Not being defeatist, but at the present time that sort of money is way out of my reach and seen as I am unemployed, trying this out as a hobby to keep myself busy while looking for work is not possible.
I guess it was really dumb to think I could afford it anyway ((
Anyway sorry about the rant
Cheers for all your help guys

Like the rest of us on here, we are all doing buts as we can afford, get a decent car, if you can get an 82 there will be less parts you need to find, get a nose and you will virtually have an external replica. the inside is one of those things you dont rush

Mine isnt far off turnkey and isnt going to be a price of 15k lol
Even have a roof to convert it from hardtop to t's if you wanted to.
Full dash inc electronics full interior with upper console and fiber t top skin.
Id be asking more £8,500 considering all the right parts are in place and the extra goodies, its a V8 and a true 82.

Yeah Stu
I know about your KITT, he is still in the back of my mind, the only things is finding someone to do the T tops, I think a guy local to me can do it, but even so I think I'll be looking at £2000 extra (
BTW : I ment to ask what size is his engine 3ltr 3.1ltr or 5ltr ?
And is it the angle of the pics that make the hood look like it does not fit on the passenger side, or is that something you are trying to fix?
( don't mean to sound like I'm picking on you or KITT, it was just something I noticed in the pics)
Either way I would love to take him off your hands, with all the extra stuff you have he is a bargain at that price, but it's still out of reach for me I'm afraid
Cheers

6.6L, fresher engine than the 25 at the time year old engine that died on me.
400hp at the wheels at your command.
£2,000, damn I'm sure I could have a guy here local to me do it cheaper than that lol, the respray on the whole car wasn't anywhere near that price!

Hi again, the car on autotrader already has the correct hood, i think it's the correct spoiler unless it's the 3rd brake light one, can't tell from the pics. personally i think that's overpriced for a v6, i've seen v6 cars for under 2K in good nick with mot etc.

Stu
HOW THE .......... Do you have a 6.6Ltr, and afford to run it?
I think a 3.1ltr is more than enough for me, especially on my budget.
Warlord
Thanks for answering my curiousity I was wondering if that car is a v8 or v6, but how did you know, or did I miss it on the advert ?
peace

its not as un economical as it sounds i managed to get around 300 miles to the tank which aint to bad, that was from my place to leeds to hull, a bit of a play after everyone had gone out of the show area and then back home.
warlords right, I actually paid £600 for a v6 2.8 82 some time back OIL 5482 was the reg, all depends how much you want the car really!

These cars are better on long runs, ie, to knightcon and back, its round the doors the petrol just disappears, but the V6's are more economical so would probably be right up your street.
forget totalling up all the parts for now as you obviously cant buy everything at once, ive had my car over 7 years now and its only really been the last year ive started to really move forward with it, in respect of all the fibreglass interior pieces, it just takes a bit of time !

It says its a 3.1 in the headline of the ad.
I agree with Scott, getting a car is the first thing. I've had mine 8 years and its not finished yet. These are great to drive.

to be honest, if i was doing this all over again, i would buy a late firebird, like Rik go for the 3.1 as these cars seem to be a lot more refined and reliable? i would then put all the 82 parts on the car

Well I did do a nice post here at 3am last night lol but I think I must have done my stirling job of hitting preview then closing tab thinking I posted DO'H,,
Anyhows what I basically harped on about was dont worry if your not got alot of cash, take your time, enjoy the process. I'm skint at the mo too, but got back into it in anticipation of doing one, get my research done get back upto date so I can make informed decisions and that way avoide spending unnessicerialy (Yep I know I cant spell lol)
I too looked at that car you linked to, nice looking motor, and I had a V8 loved it would love another but logic dictates this time round I best go for a V6,, that way I can enjoy it more often if money is tight. If I was in a position to I might have went for that car, Got alot of the basic bits there,, but if your still not sure don't rush at it, take your time and when your feel the time is right then get one
OK gota run things to do etc

Yeah I guess you are all right in what you say, best to take time and wait until I have money, unfortunatly Murphy's law dictates, that when I get the money the car I have seen will be gone. Oh well we will see what happens .

Cars come and go, there will always be others,, sometimes you miss one but this can be to your favour as a better one comes along later,, sometimes you'll curse as youll regret letting one go by, but it's all part of the game,, but remember when it comes to saving for one remember you'll need insurance money too, also maybe tax and MOT costs,, so always worth having a spare few 100 on top for unforeseen mechanical expenses.

Tim if only that was possible,
Unfortunately they don't give out loans to people with bad credit history, hardly any money in the bank and unemployed (((
Hense one reason why I had to tell Stu I could not buy his KITT, because the bank turned me down ((( Or I would have given stu's KITT a new home in sunny North Wales
Yeah I know sunny for about 3 days )
