I have had my Mio KR GPS for several years now.It's been dropped a few times,Can't update maps,It won't hold a charge if unplugged.But still a COOL piece to have,Since Will Daniels says your name !!! Best $115 I ever spent

Anyone know where or if you can get european maps for the MIO knight rider gps, and a reliable source to buy one from?

I'd really like one for my KITT when I get him, if european maps are available or at least a wav of KITT saying my name, then a little sound editing later

WOW the lack of responce on here is only surpassed by the lack of decent answers on the internet, some say yes some say no

Anyway IF anyone has any idea where I can get a MIO Knightrider gps with european maps, (preferably not from ebay as I have been stung by ebay bandits before), or at least any ideas if anyone has any ideas how I can lay my hands on recording of William Daniels saying my name i.e Instead of ' All systems go Micheal, All systems go Matt, you know to personalise my KITT when I get him

I may be wrong, but when i looked into this earlier, there were no european maps available. Unless they have updated them in the last year.

Cheers Peter, I thought as much but thought it was worth a question

the internet is debating on the possibility some sites say yes some say no, but MIO official site has no info on that specific gps unit, so I'm thinking it does not have euro maps

I got a standard garmin nuvi satnav from halfords and downloaded the official Knight Rider voice from Navtones. You can even download the knight rider car onto Nuvi satnavs at this website. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Thats COOL, I do have a TOMTOM with the official knight Rider voice and a KITT car for the screen, but it's my stepdad's and I was thinking more along the idea of being able to have the voice saying my name, so I could edit that into other sound clips for a personilised version

with the navtones knight rider voice you can download it to say any name on there list. there is a couple hundred names. I downloaded it with KITT saying my name.

AHH I see that cool, but sad it only has MAtthew for garmin and no additional names available for tomtom, SUUUUCKKS, the one name I hate is Matthew, I prefer Matt, so back to the drawing board (

If Garmin is anything like the TOMTOM gps thingies, you do need a cable to connect to the PC and use the internet to download, possibly download it to your pc first, then transfer it to the gps unit, some older gps sat navs had to be updated that way, working in PC World for 6 years, I had plenty of issues about that with customers, ' Like it's my fault I did not design the thing '.

Hope this help, oh and search internet for PARTSMASTER.CO.UK they hold loads of spare parts for all sorts of electrical item, you have a good chance of finding a cable there, or try ebay.

It might be worth having a closer look as a lot of the newer (well past 4 years) Sat Nav devices use a standard Mini USB cable rather than a proprietary connector and you've probably got one lying around from an old camera, etc.
