My personal memories of Knightcon

i wanted to share a few memories found on this forum and beyond, there are video messages on youtube too if you wish to find them
we should be so proud as an event that " made a difference" first year wetherby we had 6 cars and approx 100 people, we from day one had huge graphics, people coming from all over the UK, from the Isle of Man and Scotland, great video messages and montages from the likes of David Hasselhoff and from Glen Larson, Jack Gill, Stu Phillips, Don peake and Catherine Hickland, we took time out to go film the cars at the Keswick museum so we could share them with the guys who couldnt make the journey to the Lake district
We evolved and snowballed moving to Halifax and we hosted the worlds largest gathering of KITT cars, we started to get over guests from the US including Mike Scheffe the original designer, then William Daniels did a voice over CD for us all at the event, Jay ohrburg did a great message with his SPM KITT too which was great!
we had then the pleasure of meeting Catherine Hickland, rebecca Holden and when moving to the new venue Peter Parros! he chose us to be his first Knight Rider event EVER and was uncontactable until we found him!
we then spent 5 months of our lives daily and through many yes no and maybe managed to bring un anounced David Hasselhoff to the show, for the people who had always supported us and bought a ticket this is the way we could thank you for believing in us, we had people now traveling from all over Europe and couldnt wait to get back the following year, many firsts at the show too including Peter, Peter driving the convertable! the cast and crew re uinted for the first time and 6000 miles away from home wow!! and we even managed to film the convertable, unseen for over 20 years
i could rattle on all day about the countless hours of searching, the worry about finance, the arguments with family and so on, but i wanted to end this on a positve note and to say we looked good didnt we.
i would love you guys to dig out those old photos and memories and attach them to this post to keep reminding us of the amazing times we had
its so surreal
let me leave you this letter Rob and myself had to show you why we did all this
this little boy couldnt lift his head and his day was made
To whom it may concern,
I just wanted to say what a fantastic event Knightcon 2011 was last Saturday. It was the first time I had been despite living just 13 miles from it`s previous home!!! I never even knew the event existed. I went along with my little boy, Alex who is in a wheelchair and registered blind and we both had the day of lives!! All of the people who were at the event in costume were just absolutely fantastic, sticking it out all day in that heat, real troopers and everyone was so nice and amazingly accommodating to us, and indeed to everyone else I saw them interacting with. We were lucky enough to meet the Hoff himself as we had a VIP luncheon ticket and he couldn`t have been nicer, exceeding all expectations when he stopped to talk to Alex and allowed me to take a superb picture of them together, what a genuine star he was.
To the gentleman who organised the whole thing, congratulations! For me it was an absolute triumph, to put on such an event, for free, is truly remarkable. I have been involved in event organisation myself in the past, nothing on such a grand scale I might add, but I have nothing but admiration for what you achieved. I sincerely hope there will be a Knightcon 2012 and look forward to attending again!!
Many many thanks again for providing us with such a truly memorable day.
Kind regards,
Julian and Alex.

Those are some great memories which I think every one I have been at lol!
Some of my favorite and interesting ones were parking cars in Halifax what a job that was!
Then there was the subway run at Xscape for mike peter and rebecca that was a test of memory and on top of that got a sub for steve and rob because they both looked like they needed it lol!
Peter and mike taking it in turns to drive my Cadillac haha
Rebecca and her new found love for mushy peas!
All the laughs Rob and Steve Marina and I had behind the scenes putting things up and tearing things down.
Steves kitt running out of petrol!
My kitt blowing its bottom and top pipes on the way to knightcon 11, but he made it regardless!
Without Steve and Rob doing what they do I:
A) would never have met the hoff, rc3, rebecca, holden, catherine hickland or mike scheffe and had so much interaction with them as I had.
B) Made new friends along the way
C) Be christened the mushy peas man for my yearly ritual with rebecca haha.
D) Seen so many special messages from cast and crew members
I always take this into consideration when it comes to each event.
None of this would have happened had it not have been for these two special guys, which is why I always help where I can as a way of thanking them for their hard work.
Very fond memories!

Those vids and pics are great. Very fond memories indeed. One of my proudest moments in replica owning history was taking Mike Scheffe for a drive in my KITT.
Love all the pics. Made some good friends through this event.

Did you REALLY have to put up that pic of me stripped off to the waist to get my KnightCon T-shirt signed, REALLY?
I thought the idea of this thread was to celebrate the achievements of a wonderful event, not to put everyone off their tea.
Awesome memories with awesome friends, let's hope that the legal crap can be sorted out soon so that this icon of an event can be re-instated

Great montage of pics there, im in a few of them i see ! Driving Rebecca Holden down the ramp to the waiting crowds at KnightCon 2010 was amazing. I remember sitting there round the corner then she got in the car, introduced herself etc and we were talking while i was driving in and i was thinking, WHAAAAAT, im driving April, in KITT, it was so surreal but without KnightCon that never would of happened.
And of course ive got my car signed buy Rebecca, Mike Scheffe, Catherine Hickland, Peter Parros and Hasselhoff.
Great times !

Lol, I had the same experience when I was driving Mike Scheffe down at KC 2010, he got in the car, introduced himself, and me being the thoughtless sod that I am I said "I know who you are, I met you last year". It never occurred to me in that moment that poor Mike meets thousands of us each year and can't be expected to remember us all.
I also had to chuckle later too when Mike, Rebecca & Catherine were signing our cars, because all 3 of them leaned into my trunk area to sign my car and Mike saw his signature already sitting there next to David Hasselhoff's. The look on his face was like "How did that get there already?" and he looked genuinely confused
Happy Days

I'm so glad that I thought to pick up my phone and start filming from the back seat of KITT (top video is mine) a great bit of footage to remember the event. Hadn't seen some of the other photos, thats me with my son (red 'Thomas' shirt on) stood talking to Mike.
For all the daftness that's gone on this past week, it's really nice to be reminded that the MAJORITY had a great time at Knightcon, really makes it all seem worthwhile.

It's been an awesome few years, really enjoyed it. Those are great pictures, and great memories too.
I've got loads of photos, still on the 'to-do' list to upload, I've shared some of them on here before now, but I'll try and upload a few from the years at some point soon.
From the first year though, here is one standout memory from me - I was knocking about in a Porsche Boxster at the time. Got a picture of the pair...
I can't remember who's KITT it was but I remember him being quite bemused as to what I was doing then the penny dropped when I got the camera out hehehe.

Right from Knights At The Rock, where I first met most of you guys and saw the first Trans Am in the flesh, to Wetherby where I was christened "The Sausage Man" and then meeting the stars, including David. I can honestly say that I've had the time of my life!
Some of the nicest people I've ever met have been you guys.
Steve, Rob. I salute you!
Mike
