License plate flipper
Tue Feb 09, 2010 12:33 am
This seems like such a popular item that I think I may have found one that is reasonable and honest.
The link below shows the YouTube video of a European plate flipper (180 Euro's for a set of two with shipping), but he has 10 for the US, that he sells for $150 each, shipped to the USA. I am only going to buy one, so I don't know if he discounts for a set of 2. I would have bought it from him by now, but he only accepts Alertpay. I have to apply for an account there.
If you like, I could be the "guinea pig" on this, and report back when I actually receive the unit.
At any rate, if you want to contact him directly, his email is [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

Rik,
I was going to, but the one guy only took Western Union, and that's like handing someone cash in a dark alley. At least this guy takes Alertpay, which is more secure.
But I'm setting up an account so I can buy one (FINALLY).
Do yo have one?
Chris

That is SO cool. Are they available in the US plate size the same size as the Knight plate?

Hi,
I got mine from ebay.com ant they were about $200 each.
But no they dont work the same as those others. I wanted them to be independant so i can run my knight plate all the time and have my normal plates able to flip away when at shows etc.

Rik,
Actually, my memory is so bad, I don't remember. Did you send me pictures or a video of it? I'll have to dig out my old pictures you sent me. I have them all on my computer.

Rik,
I checked the website of Autolock...that just hides the plate, right, not actually changes it from one to the other?
I just heard from the guy and he's not accepting Alertpay anymore. He only accepts LibertyReserve.com.
I think I'm going for it.

i dont know any of those payment methods to be honest mate.
And yes it hides my plated away when at shows etc. As i want to run with my knight plate in its true position all the time. so ill mount my plate below it under the bumper so i can just flip it away.

If only he'd accept Paypal it would make this piece of kit far more accessible to the masses. Make him more money too. Maybe we should organise a group buy on the condition he accepts Paypal.

Yeah, I've tried that. I think he said Paypal wasn't set up for his country, but I'm not sure. A friend has already set up and account with LibertyReserve and sent him money for a pair of Euro Flippers. I'm going to do the same, and pay with my credit card, which will re-imburse me if this guy is a fraud.

Getting funds into LibertyReserve is expensive...you have to use a money exchanger and they charge about 19%, which adds about another $30 to my bill (I'm only getting a rear flipper, too). So I wrote to him and asked if he'd reconsider setting up a Paypal account. It's so much easier and cheaper and I have at least 3 other people who will buy them from him if he sets up Paypal.
Stay tuned!

Still waiting to hear from Flipper Guy about Paypal. I told him I have a bunch of people interested if he would only open a Paypal account.

Just a word of caution here....
I'm a bit concerned about this excuse that Paypal isn't set up for his Country, Paypal is WORLDWIDE.
It's probably more likely that it is just that he doesn't want to set up a Paypal account because of the way the fees are charged to the person getting the payment NOT the person sending it (that puts a lot of sellers off).
Unfortunately (and I know I'm only ASSUMING here), if it is for that reason and he can't even be honest about that small detail, I don't know if I'd trust him enough to part with my cash.
(it'd be pretty hard to claim you couldn't see the Con coming when you caught him lying to you before you'd even parted with your money, ).
It's up to you at the end of the day, but be careful.

Tony,
Thanks for the warning and the concern. I would rather pay a little more to offset his Paypal fees, than have to go through all the hoops that LibertyReserve and that money exchanger is making go through.

I have been emailing him and he's responded each time. I am still trying to work out how to pay him, and I have a friend who has already paid him and is waiting delivery of his Plate Flipper. I am actually stalling to see if my friend actually gets his.
But here is the Flipperman's email address that I've been corresponding with:
